CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — It will be an all-Triangle event at this year’s College World Series,  after UNC rallied Tuesday afternoon to take a best of three super regional series over the South Carolina Gamecocks, WTVD reports.

The Tar Heels now travel to Omaha Nebraska to take on NC State for the overall national title.

Tuesday’s 5-4 win came after the threat of bad weather forced the postponement of the original game time Monday night.

Rain also forced the postponement of Friday’s series opener to Saturday. The No. 1 overall seed Tar Heels (56-10) won that game 6-5, but the Gamecocks (43-19) won 8-0 on Sunday.

North Carolina State made the World Series after beating Rice 5-4 on Sunday in the longest super regional game in NCAA history – a marathon 17 innings.

N.C. State is making its first College World Series appearance since 1968. The first game is Sunday.
