BOONE, N.C. — Boone police said they're investigating after finding an 11-year-old boy dead at a Best Western hotel Saturday night.

Police said they were called to the hotel at 840 E. King St. around 12:30 p.m. for two people who were reportedly in distress.

Police also said the boy's mother was hospitalized and is in stable condition. The boy's pastor, Scott Davis, told WCNC the boy and his mother were on vacation.

Boone police identified the victims as Jeffrey Lee Williams (son) and 49-year-old Jeannie Williams, both of Rock Hill, S.C.

Police have not released details leading up to the incident. No probable cause of death was released.

Police said the boy was staying in the same room where two elderly people were found dead on April 16.

Officials said there is no evidence that the incidents are related, and that investigators are continuing to explore all possibilities.

Boone police officials said they have determined that there is no danger to the general public.

They said their thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
