RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — The new Interstate 74/US 311 connector in Randolph County is expected to open the week after Memorial Day.

The I-74/US 311 bypass from Glenola (Cedar Square Rd.) to US 220 is expected to open the week after Memorial Day. The project has been delayed several times due to weather and rock blasting delays.

The goal of the connector is to connect Randolph, Guilford and Forsyth counties.

The project has been delayed several times. It was originally scheduled to open October 2012, then December 2012, then February 2013 and now the week after Memorial Day.

The estimated cost is $100 million.

The NC DOT is planning ribbon cutting ceremony.
