CARY, N.C. — Prosecutors say a woman who is charged with murder may have strangled her 77-year-old husband after an argument over cable television at their Cary home, according to WTVD.

WTVD reports prosecutors said 61-year-old Dottie Delaney Amtey may have snapped Wednesday night after her husband, Sharad Amtey, pulled the cable plug on her TV at their home on Carbon Hill Court.

A woman called 911 around 11 p.m. and told dispatchers there had been a murder in the couple’s home, WTVD reports.

“She said she just choked her husband to death,” the caller said, according to WTVD.

Sharad Amtey, who was said to be “very sick,” was taken to Rex Hospital where he was pronounced dead, WTVD reports.

WTVD reports there were as many as six people living in the 1,900-square-feet rental house, including at least one adult child of the couple’s and a grandchild.
