Guilford Co. Schools named 2013 National District of Character

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Guilford Co. Schools has been named a 2013 National District of Character, one of only three districts across the country to receive the award.

The school system made the announcement on Friday at Vandalia Elementary, one of five schools to win national Promising Practices recognition for character ed.

In the 2012-13 school year, high school students have completed more than 200,000 hours of service.

GCS is the first school district in North Carolina to ever win the award.
