BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police said a woman was taken to the hospital after being trapped under a van she was trying to fix.

Police said the 47-year-old victim was attempting to repair a green 1995 Ford Astro van in the 100 block of Elmira Street around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities said the victim was a passenger in the van and the driver had stopped in the road due to mechanical problems.

Police said the van rolled forward, trapping her underneath. They said she was taken to Moses Cone Hospital in serious condition.

Police said no charges will be filed.
