20-year-old Wilmington man charged in father’s stabbing death
WILMINGTON, N.C. — A 20-year-old Wilmington man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his father in the back with a kitchen knife.
Investigators told WECT that Corey Eugene Roberts argued with his father, 52-year-old Christopher Roberts, Thursday night at the family’s home in 500 block of Night Hawk Drive.
Officials said Corey Roberts then appeared to try to stab himself as his father tried calming him down.
Authorities said Corey Roberts turned the knife on his father, who died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
Investigators said the stabbing was captured on a 911 call, with a woman saying Corey Roberts was trying to kill himself, then suddenly screaming that her dad was stabbed.
Roberts remains in jail and had court on Friday.
