Police looking for Charlotte teen they say cut off electronic monitor

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–Charlotte Police are looking for a teenager who they said cut off his electronic monitoring device.

WSOC reports that Cristian Hernandez, 17, is wanted by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team on outstanding warrants for larceny of auto, possession of a stolen vehicle and interfering with an electronic monitoring device.

Investigators said he was released from jail in January and ordered to wear an electronic monitor.

According to WSOC, Hernandez left his house on Wednesday during his court-ordered curfew hours and cut off his electronic monitor. He was last seen on Plaza Road Extension near Rocky River Road, according to investigators.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team at 704-336-VCAT or call 911.
