Officials: Man hit by train, killed in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Authorities said a man on the railroad tracks was hit and killed by an AMTRAK train Tuesday night in Thomasville.

Officials said the incident was reported shortly after 7 p.m. near the “Big Chair” in downtown. The identity of the victim has not been released.

The train is reportedly still in Thomasville, blocking N.C. 109 at Main Street.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details were immediately available.
