ELON, N.C. — Deputies with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office say they arrested a South Carolina man on Monday after he reportedly arranged a meeting with a 13-year-old girl at a park in Elon.

The Greensboro News & Record reports James Gregory King II, 40, of Walterboro, S.C., is accused of arranging the meeting after he sent an obscene picture to the supposed girl, who was actually an undercover detective.

King is charged with felony disseminating obscenity.

The office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating King earlier in March after he began chatting with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl on an Internet Dating Site, deputies said, according to the News & Record.

Deputies say they arrested King around 5 p.m. Monday when he arrived at Beth Schmidt Park.

The suspect was jailed in the Alamance County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
