GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County School is considering hiring a consultant to advise the Board of Education on whether or not the school system should hire a security chief.

GCS spokesperson Nora Shoptaw says the Board’s School Security Task Force met recently to discuss the possibility and, if it was pursued, what the new position would entail.

Shoptaw says there is no timeline for the decision, although the topic could emerge again as soon as Thursday evening’s planned budget presentation by the superintendent.
