Forsyth County police issue 31 DWI citations in state crackdown

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Law enforcement officers in Forsyth County issued 31 citations for driving while impaired over the weekend of March 15-17 as part of the statewide “Booze it and Lose It” campaign.

Throughout North Carolina, officers cited 690 motorists for driving while impaired, the Governor’s Highway Safety Program said in a news release Friday.

“We hope to bring a clear message to motorists by increasing enforcement efforts — don’t drink and drive,” said Becky Wallace, the program’s director.

The crackdown was conducted over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Authorities in Wake County issued 54 DWI citations and Greensboro police and Guilford County deputies issued 33, according police.
