Winston-Salem mayor cited after crash
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police say Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines was cited Wednesday afternoon after a minor traffic accident.
According to police, Joines was driving his personal car, a 2011 BMW, east on Second Street shortly after 4 p.m. when he drifted into the adjoining lane at the intersection with Spring Street, colliding with the right side of a 2008 Saturn.
As a result, police say Joines was cited for unsafe movement.
Nobody was injured in the crash, police said.
The total damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,500, police said.
No contributing factors are suspected in the crash.
