Alamance County math teacher helps simplify Common Core

If you have a child in school, you may have heard about the Common Core--a new set of nationwide standards for math and language arts.

The standards have been criticized by many who say the standards are too complicated and hard to teach.

Heather Stephens, a 7th grade math teacher at Southern Middle School in Alamance County is trying to change that.

She was selected to help simplify the Common Core after a nationwide search to find someone to write new lesson plans.
