HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — A Hendersonville woman died Saturday morning after officials said a tree struck her vehicle, causing her to run off the road into another tree.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Anita Chapman Rhodes, 51, died in the wreck at around 11:17 a.m. on U.S. 64 near Camp Judea.

Authorities said her 2007 Ford SUV was traveling east when a tree fell from the left side of the roadway and struck the driver’s compartment.

Officials said she continued on straight as the road curves, and she struck a tree on the right side.

No other injuries were reported in the single-vehicle wreck.
