LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Lexington man has been arrested under accusations that he was soliciting teenage girls for sex on Facebook.

Christopher Minerd, 21, is charged with six counts of statutory rape/sex offense, three counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of soliciting a juvenile to commit an unlawful sex act.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Minerd was arrested after he was stopped in December, 2012 for a traffic violation.

Deputies say there was a 14-year-old girl in the vehicle with him.  The teen told officers that “she had been in a sexual relationship with Minerd,” deputies said.

Further investigation revealed the suspect “had been soliciting juvenile females on Facebook,” deputies said.  Deputies say the suspect used the social media website to contacted “several” juveniles.

The suspect is being held in the Davidson County under a $25,000 secured bond.
