THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Randolph County Sheriff Maynard Reid says a Lexington man is in critical condition after he was found shot.

According to Sheriff Reid, deputies responded Sunday afternoon to a report of a gunshot wound “in the area of” 7161 Dogwood Circle.  The address is located in Thomasville, but is within the Randolph County line.

When deputies arrived, Reid says they found Dean Anthony Dimery, 37, of Lexington, suffering from a gunshot wound to his face.

Dimery was taken to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition as of 11 a.m. Tuesday, Reid said.

“The preliminary findings in this matter indicate this is a domestic violence-related incident,” Reid said in a news release.

“At the time of the shooting, the shooting victim may have been attempting to break into the home of his girlfriend,” Reid continued.

Reid said the address mentioned above is the home of 37-year-old Lisa Ratcliffe, but he did not specify whether Ratcliffe is Dimery’s girlfriend or where exactly the shooting occurred.

Investigators are still working to determine if charges will be filed, Reid said.
