Employee accused of stealing from humane society in Boone

BOONE, N.C. — A Boone woman has been accused of stealing from the humane society where she worked. 

According to the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, cash and checks were reported missing from the Watauga Humane Society at 312 Paws Way on Dec. 24, 2012. 

As the result of an investigation, deputies say they arrested 44-year-old Christine Clark. 

Clarke is charged with five counts of felony larceny by an employee. 

The suspect was arrested Thursday, Jan. 17.  She received a $20,000 unsecured bond.  A court date was set for Feb. 26.
