2 dead in car wreck in eastern NC

WILLARD, N.C. — Officials said two people are dead after a crash involving a log truck and a car Monday afternoon in Pender County.

WWAY reported that a car with three people swerved across the center line and hit the truck on a curve on U.S. 421 in Willard.

Authorities have identified the victims as Debra Potter of Salemburg and Juanita Potter of Clinton. A third occupant of the car and the driver of the truck were hospitalized.

The car wreck reportedly snarled traffic for two hours.
