AAA expects lower gas prices in 2013

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WSOC) — AAA expects the price of gas in 2013 to be lower than it was in 2012.

Events like hurricanes, tension in the Middle East, pipeline closures and refinery fires helped to increase the price of gas in 2012, according to officials with AAA Carolinas.

As long as the U.S. is able to avoid catastrophic events, prices should be lower. If Congress fails to reach a debt limit deal, gas prices could potentially go lower because of economic concerns.
