GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police say charges have been filed in a deadly crash that occurred on Christmas Eve.

Ashleigh Lynn Mellon, 32, of Atlanta, Ga., is charged with felony death by vehicle, two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle, driving while impaired, and careless and reckless driving.

According to police, Mellon was driving a 2005 Toyota Solara north on Fleming Road when she crossed the center line near Clarkson Road and collided head-on with a 1998 Lexus GS300 driven by Ronald John Beardslee, 29, of High Point.

Beardslee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in his vehicle suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.  Police identified the passengers as Lauren Marie Martin, 29, and 3-year-old Mason Martin — the couple’s son.

Mellon is also charged with hit-and-run for damage she caused to a guardrail just before the deadly crash, police said.
