Police: Two charged with assault at Burlington nightclub

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police said two people were arrested after being accused of beating a man at a nightclub early Sunday morning in Burlington.

Officials said they were called to Heavy’s Lounge at 1103 E Webb Ave. shortly after 2:30 a.m. The alleged victim told officers he was kicked and hit by several people at the club.

Authorities said Dane Ronald Slade, Jr., 23, of Burlington and Tamika Lashey Corbett, 30, of Mebane, were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. 

Police said the suspects were arrested after they left in a vehicle and were pulled over. The driver, Ashley Deneen Watlington, was charged with driving while impaired.

Police said the 24-year-old victim was treated and released from Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Slade and Corbett were placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $25,000 bond each.  Watlington was released on a custody release.
