LEXINGTON, N.C. — Three Davidson County churches plan to partner together to offer a Holy Innocents service Friday, memorializing the victims of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting.

The Lexington Dispatch reported that the event takes place at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church at 320 South State St.

Holy Innocents Day, Becks Evangelical Lutheran and First Lutheran churches are participating.

“We want this to be a community service, and we want this to be a service of remembrance and healing,” said the Rev. Angie Jackson of Becks Lutheran, according to the paper.

The service will reportedly include music, readings and prayers to acknowledge the shooting tragedy.

Twenty children and six adults were killed at an elementary school earlier this month in Newtown, Conn.
