CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Authorities believe a 27-year-old woman whose body was found in a creek across from a Charlotte hospital died of natural causes.

The Charlotte Observer reports that police found Ashley Ashcroft-Billings in a creek bed across from Carolinas Medical Center about 11 p.m. Thursday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the woman was wearing a medical bracelet when she was found. A hospital spokeswoman says Ashcroft-Billings was not listed as a patient there.

An autopsy will determine how she died.

A police report classifies the case as a natural death investigation.
