GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Chris Williams of Mebane got the news he didn't want to hear this week.

"During our shift on Wednesday we were told to stop production," Williams said.

Williams works for Craftique Furniture Company in Mebane.

Williams and about 19 others were laid off this week.

On top of that none of the workers at Craftique received a paycheck Friday.

"Something like this should have never happened," Williams said.

Craftique Furniture is in the process of shutting its doors for good.

Craftique's owner John Erwin says Regions Bank froze their assets due to a legal injunction in response to not paying one of Craftique's creditors.

Erwin would not tell us how much money is owed to the creditor or its name.

Erwin says they're in the process of working this legal matter and all employees should receive their paychecks Monday.

But for Williams, he won't believe it until he sees it.

Williams is worried if he can provide a good Christmas for his family.

"This is just a bad time for this to happen," Williams said.

Craftique has been around since the 1940's.

In March the company held their last big sale at its outlet in Burlington.
