ZEBULON, N.C. – Officials are investigating after six horses were stabbed and injured overnight Friday at a horse farm in Zebulon.

The News & Observer reported that four of the six horses stabbed belonged to Andrea Hayward of Wayward Farms and the other two belonged to a neighbor.

“We have no idea who would do such a thing,” said Hayward, according to the paper. “We’re scared for our horses. We’re very concerned for their safety.”

Hayward said all of the horses are being treated and are expected to make a full recovery. She said the animals were wearing heavy blankets during the crime which may have helped save their lives.
