GREENSBORO, N.C. — The city of Greensboro will implement a one-year pilot program starting Dec. 3 with Mattress GO Round to collect used mattresses and box springs from city residents.

Mattress GO Round is a local company that recycles old mattresses and box springs by repairing, sanitizing and rebuilding them for resale.

Residents can call the Greensboro’s Contact Center at 373-CITY (2489) to request mattress and box spring collection. They can also drop off their old mattresses/box springs at Mattress GO Round, at 1601-A Yanceyville St.

Officials said the pilot program is expected to reduce bulk collection, hauling and disposal costs for the city. It also means less bulk waste in the landfill.

Residents can also leave large items at the curb on their regular recycling collection day for city to pick up.
