FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters have responded to a grass fire along I-40 in Forsyth and Guilford counties.

Forsyth County Fire Marshal Tim Whicker says crews haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact source of the fire, which he described as “spotty.”

Investigators suspect the burning debris may have come from a truck hauling pine needles or other materials, Whicker said.

The debris appears to have been spread along I-40 West between Guilford County and the Winston-Salem city limits.
