Former school janitor arrested for child sex offense

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A former janitor at Sedgefield Elementary School in Greensboro was arrested on Saturday for a sex offense with a student.

The Greensboro News & Record reported that Jose Licinio Portillo-Urrutia, 47, of Greensboro, resigned from his job on Friday.

The alleged incident took place in June 2010, but was not reported to police until recently. The alleged victim reported the incident. Specific details were not released.

Portillo-Urrutia was charged with with first-degree sex offense with a child, indecent liberties with a student and crime against nature, according to arrest warrants.

He was placed in the Guilford County jail under a $75,000 bond and has court planned for Jan. 9.
