DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- A 19-year-old escaped serious injuries after a fiery crash on I-85 Southbound near Mile Marker 98.

Troopers said Nicholas Browne-Marke's car experienced a tire failure, went off the side of the road, crashed down an embankment and caught fire.

"It happened way too fast," Browne-Marke said. "I was pretty much trapped inside but was able to climb out of the back window. God was on my side today."

No one else was involved in the accident.

The crash slowed traffic for a short period of time.

"I thank God you lost your car and not your life," said Brown-Marke's mother Princess Byass King.  "I'm a firm believer in the Lord. Some angels picked him out of that car."

No charges were filed.
