North Davidson High School student Melanie Pell has been a cheerleader since she was 7-years-old.

But after a devastating car wreck on June 29 and multiple surgeries, the 17-year-old was forced to cheer in a wheelchair.

She continued to cheer at all her school's sporting events and is a big inspiration to the North Davidson community. She said her number one goal throughout the entire recovery was that she wanted to walk.

Watch her take steps from the FOX8 studio before Danny Harnden interviews her.
