SEABOARD, N.C. — Police in the Northampton County town of Seaboard are investigating two fatal shootings in the past 10 days.

No arrests have been made in either shooting, but Seaboard Police Chief George Reed told the Daily Herald of Roanoke Rapids that officers have promising leads in the town of about 700.

Seaboard is about 100 northeast of Raleigh.

Investigators say 17-year-old Damon Riddick was killed during a botched home invasion on Oct. 26 and 24-year-old Kelvin Branch was killed at a gathering place near the railroad tracks on Oct. 28.

Reed says there are lots of rumors around town, but people aren’t sharing with police the information they need.

Seaboard Mayor Bobie Moss says Northampton County deputies and the State Bureau of Investigation are helping local officers.
