Durham men charged with murder in Burlington shooting

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Two Durham men are charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred this week in Burlington.

Marquis Spence, 22, and Brandon Malone, 22, both of Buxton Street in Durham, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Anthony Kevette Jones.

According to police, Jones and a second victim, Micah White, 23, were found shot shortly before 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at 709 Avon Ave.  Jones was pronounced dead after being taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center, while Micah was treated and released from UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Police said the suspects were arrested on Buxton Street with the assistance of the Durham Police Department.  The SBI also assisted in the investigation.

In addition to the murder charge, the suspects are each charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
