HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. — Both northbound lanes of I-95 in Halifax County were closed for several hours Friday morning due to a crash that reportedly involved eight vehicles and a bear.

WTVD reports the crash happened shortly after midnight near Mile Marker 160.

Troopers say a truck driver was intoxicated when he struck multiple vehicles that were stopped on the road, according to WTVD.  It was not clear why the vehicles were stopped on the road.

The lanes reopened around 5:45 a.m., however there was still some traffic congestion as of 6 a.m.
