Lexington man charged with multiple sex offenses involving teen

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Lexington man accused of sex offenses with a child has been arrested.

The Lexington Dispatch reported Carmelo Hernandez-Montalvo, 49, of 108 Larry Drive, is charged with three counts of statutory rape/sex offense by a defendant at least six years older than the victim, two counts of first-degree sex offenses with a child and indecent liberties with a child.

The paper reported the crimes are alleged to have occurred between May 2009 and July 2011. The victim was allegedly 13 at the time of the first offense.

Hernandez-Montalvo was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.  A court hearing is planned for Dec. 12.
