Police: 2 men arrested, accused of robbing convenience store

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police have arrested two men accused of robbing a local convenience store on Wednesday morning.

According to police, Mikel Desean Stewart, 22, and Jashoun Steele, 16, both of Winston-Salem, entered the La Seirra Convenience Store located at 2948 N. Glenn Ave., shortly before 11 a.m.

Police say the both of the men approached the store clerk, one of them armed with a handgun, and robbed the store.

Shortly after, the two men were apprehended near the 3000 block of Gilmer Avenue, said police.

Both suspects were charged with armed robbery and placed under a $50,000 secured bond.

Police say no one was injured during the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
