RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are continuing to investigate the death of a 2-year-old boy, retrieving cellphones, notebooks, broken glass and razor blades from the motel room where his body was found.

WRAL-TV reported those details were released Monday in search warrants involving the death of Joshua Callahan, whose body was found Sept. 26 a Super 8 Motel in Raleigh.

His mother, 29-year-old Michelle Danielle Harpster was charged the next day with killing him. Police say Harpster tried to kill herself.

She remained at WakeMed on Monday.

The child’s father, Mark Callahan of North Port, Fla., has said he was seeking full custody of Joshua. He says that two days before Joshua died, a judge ruled Florida courts would handle a custody case.
