MONROE, N.C. — A man and woman were arrested after officials said their 11-month-old son was found with bruises on his face, neck and head Friday in Monroe.

WSOC reported that Danny Lee Tackett, 28, and Amber Christine Jones, 24, both of Charlotte, were charged after police responded to a call about a child who was assaulted at the Quality Inn on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Authorities said the toddler was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

Jones was charged with felony child abuse, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said both were placed in the Union County jail. Officials said Jones received a $5,000 bond and Tackett was denied bond because of outstanding domestic violence warrants. Authorities said both suspects have court planned for Dec. 20.
