Victim in Rowan County plane crash identified

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Officials have identified the victim of a fatal plane crash Sunday morning in Rowan County.

Authorities said Cecil Dwayne Brown, 49, of Faith, died shortly before 6 p.m. at the scene of the wreck near Shaw’s Mobile Home Park, located off Old Stone House Road near the town of Granite Quarry.

Deputies said the wreck involved an ultralight experimental aircraft occupied by one pilot.

Officials said Brown’s body was taken to Chapel Hill for an autopsy and his family was notified Sunday night.

The FAA is investigating.
