HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police say one of their officers was involved in a wreck Monday morning.

According to Capt. Mike Kirk, the crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Russell Avenue.

Kirk said Detective Chris Weisner, 50, was driving an unmarked patrol car east on Russell Avenue when his car collided with a van that was headed south on Main Street.

Both Weisner and the driver of the van, who was identified as 47-year-old Eduardo Pacheco, claim they had a green light, Kirk said.

No charges have been filed as police are investigating the crash.

Weisner was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, but Pacheco was not injured, Kirk said.

Kirk said Weisner could return to duty as early as Tuesday.
