MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — Officials said a 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he struck a vehicle that turned in front of him Sunday morning in Surry County.

The Mount Airy News reported that officials said county resident Dakota Pittman ran into the vehicle with his motorcycle around 10:41 a.m. on Old Creek Road.

Pittman reportedly hit the vehicle’s passenger side, injuring a female passenger in the vehicle. Authorities said she was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
