GREENSBORO, N.C. –  Two men are in jail and police are searching for a third, after a security guard was injured during an altercation at the J. Douglas Gaylon Depot in downtown Greensboro.

At about 1 p.m., police responded to the depot at 236 East Washington St. after receiving a report of shots being fired.

According to police, Security Officer Charles Sluder, 39, went to the depot’s parking lot after observing two suspicious vehicles. By the time he reached the parking lot, one of the vehicles had left and the security officer then engaged the suspects in the remaining vehicle.

Later, police located the suspect’s vehicle and pulled them over on Lexington Street near Lee Street.

Police arrested Arian Devon Maynard, 22, the driver of the vehicle. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury and hit and run.

Isaac Sylvester Maynard, 21, who was in the front passenger’s seat, was taken into custody for a probation violation.

Police say they are searching for a third passenger who fled the vehicle after it was pulled over.

Sluder was transported to Moses Cone Hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
