McAdoo appeals dismissed lawsuit against NCAA, UNC
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Former University of North Carolina football player Michael McAdoo is asking a state appeals court to reinstate his lawsuit against the Chapel Hill school, its chancellor, and the NCAA.
The state Court of Appeals hears oral arguments Thursday on whether it should let McAdoo sue over claims his NFL career was irreparably harmed when he was kicked off the Tar Heels team in 2010. He was signed by the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and could miss his second consecutive pro season from a serious injury.
The NCAA declared McAdoo permanently ineligible to play college football for receiving improper benefits from agents. McAdoo alleged “gross negligence” because he was disqualified based on what his attorneys said was inaccurate information.
