Burlington cleaning woman charged with larceny

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police have arrested a cleaning woman who is suspected of stealing items from eight different clients over a period of two years.

Tammy Caviness Gilley, 54, of 406 Columbia Ave., has been charged with eight counts of larceny by an employee, three counts of possession of stolen property and four counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

According to police, Gilley was hired by the victims to provide cleaning services at their homes. After she began providing services reported to police that items including jewelery and money had gone missing.

After executing a search warrant at Gilley’s, home police were able to recover items that were reported stolen.

Gilley is received a $20,000 secured bond.

An investigation is ongoing.
