MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — Hundreds of people gathered in line early Tuesday for the grand opening of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Mount Airy.

According to a press release, more than 250 people lined up to participate in the “First 100 Camp Out” — a promotional event in which 100 people were chosen to set up camp in front of the restaurant until it opens at 6 a.m. Thursday.  The 100 campers, who were picked through a raffle, will each receive 52 free meals from the restaurant.

A company spokesperson said several people traveled from across state lines for the grand opening, including one couple who traveled from West Virginia.
