Woman arrested in Greensboro nursing home arson

Sharon Lynn Andrews Flippin, 50, of Gibsonville (Guilford Co. Jail)

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police said a Gibsonville woman was arrested Monday morning in connection with an arson at a nursing home Sept. 2 in Greensboro.

The Greensboro News & Record reported that Sharon Lynn Andrews Flippin, 50, is accused of setting fire to the Morningview Retirement Community at 3200 N. Elm St. Officials said she was charged with two counts of first-degree arson and one count of breaking and entering.

Authorities said there were 74 residents, 15 staff members and nine visitors at the facility during the blaze.

Flippin was placed in the Guilford County Jail under a $100,000 bond and has court Oct. 17.
