RALEIGH, N.C. — Police in Raleigh have released the names of a woman who was shot and killed at a shopping center and the suspect investigators said killed himself.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Tuesday the woman was 41-year-old Kathleen Ann Bertrand of Cary.

He says the suspect in her shooting was her ex-husband, 42-year-old Christopher John Bertrand of Hoover, Ala. Police say he shot himself after killing her.

Kathleen Bertrand was shot shortly after she arrived for work Monday at a shopping center. Workers in a store say hey saw the couple in the parking lot. They say they soon heard gunshots from the store where the woman worked.

Schools in the area were placed on lockdown. Officers responded to another shooting four hours later and found Christopher Bertrand dead.
