Women criticize lack of DNC child care
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some women are upset that the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte is not providing child care.
The Charlotte Observer reported that Susie Shannon of California plans attend with her 4-year-old daughter, Gracie.
Shannon is not happy that the convention will not provide child care or allow children on the convention floor.
National Organization for Women chapters in southern California say the convention is discriminating against mothers.
Convention spokeswoman Joanne Peters says there is a list of private child care providers on an official vendor directory. She says facilities are being provided for nursing mothers.
Peters says conventions usually require credentials for anyone on the floor for security reasons.
Shannon says the party should not force women to choose between their children and participating in the convention.
