RADFORD, Va. — A Virginia bakery owner reportedly declined a request from Vice President Joe Biden’s entourage to stop in his store because he disagreed with President Obama’s recent remarks about small business.

According to WDBJ, Chris McMurray, the owner of the Crumb and Get It bakery, said advance teams for Biden walked in Wednesday morning and informed him that they selected his shop to be the vice president’s stop on his way to Blacksburg.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime but essentially I said, ‘No offense to you or the campaign, but I just decline you guys coming in here. At that time she said, ‘Are you sure? There’s going to be a lot of press, a lot of activity,’” McMurray told the station.

McMurray, who runs the bakery with his wife, said it was Obama’s recent remarks regarding small businesses and “who built what” that prompted his decision.

“Very simply, ‘You didn’t build that,’” he said.
