Suspect charged in death of man found shot outside High Point pizza shop

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police said a suspect has been charged in the death of a man who was found shot Tuesday morning outside a High Point pizza shop. 

Capt. Ken Steele said Shawn Dale Heath, 33, of the 100 block of Hodgin Street, was found around 5 a.m. lying in the parking lot of Capital Pizza & Subs at 2700 West English Road with a gunshot wound to the chest. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. 

Police arrested Christopher Nicholas Lafortuna, 43, of the 3400 block of Hillside Drive, at the scene. 

Steele said Lafortuna was charged with common law murder after being questioned in the incident.  

The suspect is being held in the Guilford County Jail without bond.
